Screen-printed flared jeans and a matching guitar pickguard explore how sound, pattern, and the body interact through a shared paisley motif. Inspired by 1970s counterculture and paisley’s history as a symbol of life and nonconformity, the two-color print bridges fashion and music. The set combines bleached 12 oz denim with a laser-cut acrylic pickguard, transforming clothing and instrument into a unified, wearable expression of style and sound.
Sustainable Dye Printing:
Experimenting with sustainable dye thickening methods, I discovered that adding glucose creates a print-ready consistency ideal for screen printing. Using dyes developed for my collection, I produced a large-scale wall piece on 100% handwoven U.S. cotton from the 1950s, featuring two layers of dye printing. Aligning the prints required precision and experimentation, resulting in a richly textured surface that now hangs as a standalone artwork.
